Welcome to Play The Lie

Firway Divot    Before developing this site we were amazed to find from our surveys that              regular and keen weekend golfers had one view of how to improve their game        whilst coaches and leading players held a totally different view.

Ever noticed how many of the members of your club show off their new clubs,        new putters, wedges, shoes, bags and balls ?

Nobody ever seems to mention that they are on a diet specifically for golf, or doing gym work to increase the flexibility of their golf muscles.  Do you know anyone at your club who is seeing a sports psychologist to improve the mental aspect of his game?   It struck us as ironic that almost 100% of the pros we spoke to and surveyed were all, either doing all of these or, done them in the past.

Yet pros play with just about any set of clubs.  It all depends on who their sponsor is.

So why don't we follow in the footsteps of the pros and adopt a holistic approach to the game of golf?

It seems golfers are just like all other humans and want instant gratification.  We keep searching for the quick fix!

The truth is though that new equipment, whilst it may help and it certainly is nice to have new toys, will not get rid of bad habits.

Golf technology has advanced unbelievably over the last fifty years and yet the average golfer's score has not improved by even one shot.  Remember we are talking average golfer's scores.  The pros are different. And the reason for this will become obvious in a minute.

Billions are spent each year on research and development and yet the game at grass roots level has changed little, if at all.  Why is this? Most professional golf teachers and players will agree:

"There are no quick fixes in this game and the player must go through all the basics to become a better player."

We firmly believe that in addition to having the right equipment you need to have the right mechanics so our pages are dedicated to those players who really want to improve and are prepared to put in a little bit of work to achieve their goals.

If on the other hand you don't have  the time to practice ( a common issue with a lot of people) these pages will at least help you to understand and accept your limitations.

The real purpose of our website is to help you to enjoy the game - and to do that you either need to improve or accept your own limitations and enjoy the game at your current level, after all that's why we have a handicap system - so that all levels of golfer can enjoy the game equally.  Either way the products and articles you will find on this website will be of immense value.

We'd like to see you improve and have brought you some wonderful products relating to the basic mechanics of the golf swing- the full swing and the short game - as well as the mental and physical side of golf.

Please feel free to browse the website and check out our recommendations.

Remember also that if you go for a lesson you need to practice what you have been taught until you become comfortable with the new concepts.  Practicing on the course, usually during a friendly bet, will invariably result in a bad round.

Please enjoy our website and contact us with any criticism and suggestions.

This is as much your website as it is ours.
